Zediva = Oops? Nah, Expected…

April 12, 2011

BlitzBlurb and callback to my Zediva bit a bit back, where I wrote about the new service that takes a creative-approach-as-end-run-around-copyright-law by buying the videos and renting them to consumers remotely, thus avoiding streaming licenses.  In my post I opined the next step toward amicable resolution:

Of course an extended and super-expensive lawsuit is a standard jumping off point for negotiation leverage.

Wired writes on the more recent development re – aka lawsuit against – Zediva by (and here come some nice legit keyword plugs) Fox, Warner Bros., Disney, Twentieth Century Fox, Paramount and Universal … all working together! Ain’t that sweet.  Jury’s still out on this one, literally (except for issues in equity, like injunction – the initial thrust of the suit, which a jury doesn’t hear anyway).
